About The Book

A story about suspense, espionage, murder, and romance. This story is about Natalie Travers, who a female freelance photojournalist works mainly for travel magazines with bland non-political content. She is a generation Ukrainian, descended from Russian-speaking Jewish grandparents who fled Simferopol, USSR in 1947. She has a university education and a Boston accent. Her website is called Travers Travels. She works overseas and gets by with a smattering of various languages. She hides the fact that she knows the Russian language which she learned from her Babushka (grandmother) as a child when she was known as Natashenka. She is a free spirit, who attends feminine selfdefense classes more often than she goes to shul. At 35, with one failed marriage behind her, she is wary of men. The magazine paired her with Ben Jacobson, who is an award-winning writer, who will frequently collaborate with her on projects. He fancies her, but Natalie has a weakness for bad boys. Secretly she has been recruited as a spy by a branch of US Intelligence, code-named Foresight, which specializes in predicting future trouble spots around the world and her handler is a NYC travel agent called Henry Vandenberg. Later, we will find out that he is a double agent. Henry Vandenberg has been undercover for the KGB since before Natalie was born. He was blackmailed into the role of mole (youthful indiscretions) and is now completely owned by them. His secret controller is Igor “Avtomat” Strugatski, from the top echelons of the Organizatsiya in Brighton Beach, NYC who has a few oligarch friends in Russia. Overseas Natalie meets and likes her counterpart named Dmitri, but he knows something about the murdered woman who was found in Natalie’s hotel room. When Natalie takes a closer look at the murdered woman, she notices that she was poisoned, and in the kitchen, she sees a Regina Gershman 281 freshly made Mushroom Soup. Now, Natalie is wondering whether this mushroom soup was intended for her or someone else
